Presentations On Women's Issues

Hi, I am Joan Kirsch. Since retiring from teaching I became interested in working with women.

I enjoy speaking to women’s groups about their lives in general. Some of the topics I may cover are going forward with their lives. Topics may include behavior, friendships, socializing, widowhood, divorce, second times around, solo traveling, and feeling good about you.

As a teacher in the New York City schools I began by teaching physical education, dance and health. Then dealing with sex education and spending 10 years in the drug program, doing drug prevention and counseling. I spoke to student assemblies and parent groups. Also ran peer groups.

I received all my degrees from New York University. B.S. in education, M.A. in Health and a 6th year degree in human sexuality.

I enjoy injecting some humor into my talks. I am willing to work with small or large groups and welcome individual participation.

I am writing a book which focuses on getting on with ones life after set backs of disappointments such as divorce or death. I decided to write this book from personal experiences since I became widowed many years ago. I had 2 choices at that time—go out into the world alone or sit home alone. I decided to go out and live again. My stories about coping come from personal experiences as well as those of others who are allowing me to tell their stories.

You may invite me to speak to a small or large group. Topics can be general or specific and may be geared to your group. We can also hold “What is said here, Stays here” sessions.

Since I really enjoy helping others my rates are very reasonable and flexible. The only trouble you may have is understanding me since I grew up and spent most of my life in Brooklyn, New York and still have not lost my New York accent.
